The City of Santa Clarita Transit has many types of vehicles to get you where you want to go. All our buses are wheelchair accessible with wheelchair lifts. Our fleet represents the latest in bus technology, ranging from Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueled to 60’ articulated (bendy) buses to over-the-road commuter coaches.

In 2007, the City of Santa Clarita purchased two 60’ articulated buses. These buses are known as “bendy” or “caterpillar-like”. They are fueled by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and carry 60 passengers seated. These buses can be found in Santa Clarita providing local service.

The Gillig is the “work horse” of the City’s local fleet. The City currently owns 52 of these vehicles, which run on compressed natural gas (CNG) and sit low to the floor so passengers can enter the bus without using stairs. These buses can be found in Santa Clarita providing local service.
New Flyer Hydrogen Fuel Cell Buses

The City of Santa Clarita’s newest members of our fleet, these Hydrogen Fuel Cell buses by New Flyer are used in our local service. Hydrogen Fuel Cell buses are 100% zero-emissions, meaning they do not emit any harmful carbon into the air, with only pure water vapor from the tailpipe. These new vehicles support the City’s mission to have a 100% zero-emission fleet. These vehicles will be hitting the roads of Santa Clarita soon!
MCI Buses

The City of Santa Clarita’s fleet of MCI buses is used almost exclusively for Commuter Express transit service. Our 30 buses travel out of the Santa Clarita Valley to locations such as Downtown Los Angeles, Warner Center, North Hollywood and Century City. This fleet is commonly referred to as “over the road coaches” as they provide a small amount of comfort including padded seats and overhead bins to store items during your ride. As with our local transit vehicles, the majority of the commuter fleet is fueled by CNG. We have 6 commuter vehicles still operating on diesel, which we intend to replace with a cleaner alternative.

The City of Santa Clarita currently owns several styles of vans for use in our Dial-a-Ride service. Dial-a-Ride provides curb-to-curb shared ride service to citizens of the Santa Clarita Valley. Dial-a-Ride is for people who are unable to ride a regularly scheduled City of Santa Clarita Transit bus because of a disability. Many people need special help to get where they want to go. They may be an elderly person who is not able to walk several blocks to a bus, or to transfer from one bus to another. Maybe they were injured in an accident and need a wheelchair to get around. Or they might have been born with a condition that makes it difficult to understand how to get to different places on the bus.

The Santa Clarita Trolley first went into service in December 2017 in support of the Holiday Light Tour. The Villager model is painted in City of Santa Clarita colors and features a unique rear patio. Similar to the older Hometown Trolley, this bus is primarily used for special events as well as summer service to Six Flags and Main Street.

The City’s Hometown Trolley joined our fleet in 2007. The American Heritage Streetcar features authentic turn-of-the-century styling, with Philippine mahogany and antique brass trim, and transit necessities such as two operator-controlled doors and a wheelchair lift. This bus is primarily used for special events such as the Holiday Light Tour and special shuttles to various city facilities.
